👑 Chris Do on AI, creativity and thought leadership

Published 28 days ago • 1 min read

Chris Do is the epitome of a thought leader. I've been following his work for years as he's grown The Futur from a mere 200,000 followers on YouTube all the way to 2.4 million and growing.

I had the pleasure of interviewing him on The Recognized Authority several years ago, and I knew that he'd be a great guest for The AI-Powered Thought Leader because he's considered and thoughtful.

Chris and I discussed the overlap between AI and authentic thought leadership, and the challenges and contradictions that come into play when AI starts influencing creative thinking and the generation of ideas.

We discussed nuanced issues such as who gets credited for work, how to maintain trust and openness when using AI for content creation, and how these advancements are reshaping the landscape.

We discussed concerns about originality, copyright issues, and how the rise of AI might affect the value of content made by people.

Some highlights:

  • Integrating AI into the thought leadership process requires a nuanced approach to maintain authenticity
  • Transparency and communication around the use of AI are essential to build trust with the audience
  • Thought leaders must continuously evolve their skills and adapt to the changing landscape of content creation
  • The ability to effectively articulate ideas and exercise judgment will become increasingly valuable

"The number one key skill that you're going to need in the 21st century is the ability to articulate ideas, to speak persuasively, because when you can speak persuasively, and you can clearly articulate your ideas, then you can speak to a machine or you can speak to people."
Chris Do 41:04, The AI-Powered Thought Leader
"There's no manual, we're all just trying to figure this out right now. So you're not actually behind the curve here. I think if you're watching, if you're watching this or reading about AI right now, you're still actually at the forefront of that wave."
Alastair McDermott, 38:21, The AI-Powered Thought Leader

AI has a copyright problem (or copyright has an AI problem)! Everyone seems to have a strong view on AI-generated and AI-assisted content. Some folks don't want to use AI tools for fear of losing ownership of their IP - a real concern - and there's a lot of misinformation about the legal situation. Rather than add to the uninformed speculation I figured the best thing to do is talk with an actual lawyer about this! And who better than Erin Austin, Esq, a lawyer who specializes in IP...

I may have a Guinness World Record. I don’t know if they have “Longest Time to Start a Podcast” record, but if they do I have that locked in. I first started planning a podcast in July 2014, and it pains me to say that it took nearly 7 years before I actually launched The Recognized Authority in April of 2021. There were good reasons for delay… but probably not on the order of 7 years! When I think how much further I’d be now if I had started 3 or 4 years earlier, I regret that the delay was...

Yesterday I wrote about the fact that authority marketing is slow and why you should do it anyway. TL;DR: because just like going to the gym, you WILL see life-changing results if you can trust the process and stick with it for a significant period of time. And I know there are folks out there prepared to be patient and stay the course. I also know there are folks out there who would love to be patient and stay the course, but you have bills to pay. A mortgage, a family, life. I’d love to...
